List of published standards relevant to remote test administration
Remote testing often involves performing tests outside of a controlled laboratory environment using equipment and procedures that would not typically be used in experiments. There are numerous published standards addressing measurement procedures, equipment specifications, calculations, and technical definitions relevant to auditory testing. In the lab, standard procedures are used to promote replicability and because they represent best practices, but it is not always feasible or desirable to follow standard procedures for remote testing. However, standards can be useful for remote testing by providing a baseline for comparison, identifying relevant factors to consider when altering procedures, and serving as the basis for the design on novel procedures. An example is the use of standards-compliant dosimeters with TabSINT in order to measure, rather than control, room noise during testing. The following list of standards address many of the practical issues that must be considered in remote testing.
